Brothers, mothers, sisters, and others, good morning, good afternoon, or good evening. I never quite know when my readers find my work but thank you for checking in today. I’ll again share that I see people out and about, and they say, “I read your stuff, but not every day.” And I say, “I wouldn’t read my stuff every day; it’s too much.” But here I sit, and I add to my “anals” of literature more words for my future self.

Maybe the most relaxing day of the year yesterday, we worked around the house. Changing lightbulbs and chore stuff, we headed to the hardware store, returned home, cleaned the grill, sat in my comfy chair at about 2:00, and turned on a movie; my bride continued to do some work, and I watched the movie and fell asleep for three hours.

I woke up; it seemed I had a temperature; my OURA ring indicated as much these last two days, but I felt fine. I woke up this morning, and my wife shared I was a sweating mess the previous night, maybe I had a fever, maybe it broke, I don’t know, I feel fine, but this weekend was a time of recharge, it’s Monday morning, and I feel pretty damn impressive.

My heart rate has been steadily lowering each night since I slightly changed my nutritional intake. I was running about 70 bpm per minute, last night, I was down to 57, and since the change, it’s been a steady downhill plunge. I’ll keep track of this; funny how a slight change in dietary practice can significantly impact your body? As I sit here this moment, I can’t remember when I felt so damn good; my 53rd birthday is ten days, and I’m going to feel amazing every day.

I just got a notification from our mountain home that there was movement the “downstairs.” We have cameras set up outside and inside to check on things when we are back at our Indy home.  I pulled up the camera, and our cat Gracie was on the couch. I could speak through the camera, saying, “good morning, Gracie,” and her eyes bulged. Imagine minding your own business, taking a walk, and a voice from the heavens begins saying your name. This morning, I am the “God of Cats!”

I have a hectic week, winding down on several projects. It’s been a while since I was this invested in a project. I get in and out, and I’m done, but this has taken my brainpower and organization skills. I see the light but have much more work to do. It gives me a sense of accomplishment, but I’m not working alone; I built a team to support me and create a dream team.

I have a busy week; I’m sure you do as well; it’s a busy season for us, a busy season for our state due to the Indianapolis 500. I was asked if we would rent our house for the race; I shared that not this year; we are here to support our kid and her baby; her husband is down in Florida playing baseball. It takes a village at times. Next year, I think our Indy home will be filled with a race team.

A lot of mass shootings this weekend; we had one in Buffalo, one in California, and one at a Fela market at an undisclosed location. Undisclosed because I didn’t catch where it was when scrolling through the Ground News app. What is causing this increase, or is it selective reporting?  Here’s a fun fact, there is a mass shooting every weekend in Chicago. How bad is it this weekend? Thirty-one were shot, and five were killed. That’s a mass shooting; if you are playing at home, 777 victims have lost their lives in Chicago in the last 12 months.

Why is this not a national story? Well, for one, it does not fit the narrative.  I’ll let you guess the report, but Chicago does not work in the box, so there is no reporting for you. be careful what the media focus on; get the widow on the set; we need dirty laundry. If it bleeds, it leads, a man saving an older woman from drowning is a five-story page, a man of color, that color being olive shooting a man of color, that color being brown is the front-page lead.  Why? Who gains from pushing the idea that race is the essential feature in our world? Forget the person’s character, what color they are, then we can attempt to explain the reality of our world.

My beautiful wife is up; the pup has her green beans, kibble, and rotisserie chicken. Joleen is attacking, said pup, and I’m ready for another cup of soul-enhancing solid coffee.  I encourage you to have a wonderful day; remember, it’s up to you how you frame everything that happens to you. There is a gift and opportunity in every moment; seize the moment, find the present, and don’t be afraid to smile at others to let them know that everything will be ok.
