“Woo”
“Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming “Wow! What a Ride!”

Sunday morning, the sunrise is glorious, we have company in the house, it’s an entertainment station. I’m sitting by my fireplace, in my purple bean bag, sipping my Folgers Black Silk coffee, and there is a friend on my deck with his dog and also PVHT.
It’s 6:00 a.m., we had a great night of food, fun, and laughter. We left our house about 10:15 a.m. to meet up with Joshua and his pup Charlie Dude aka Chuck. We met at Flying J Ranch and did a few miles with our dogs. This was the first time we let PVHT off her leash, and she did amazing.
We left there and headed to the Well for lunch; we got a couple of brats, a drink, and chatted with our friend Jay before getting rained out. We headed to the grocery to pick up our supplies for the night. We headed home, and I started cooking the pork shoulder in the instant pot. I planned to make crispy carnitas; we had more company joining us at 5:00. Bay and I played Gin, she won, woe is me, and the dogs played. At one point, they were both so exhausted they passed out.
About 5:00, our friend Knight and his fiancé showed up with their dog Pearl. Pearl is about five times the size of Chuck and PVHT but was the old lady of the group. She milled around while the pups played. We dined on some great food; my wife made pasta salad and another salad of greens; the carnitas were a hit, we hung out and enjoyed each other’s company.
Joshua is up with Chuck; I’m sitting here sipping coffee by my fireplace. The rest of the crew will soon get up, I’m not sure what the day holds, but I suspect it’s going to be another fantastic day. When we remolded our house, we did so with the sole intention of entertainment. We wanted this place to be a hub of people wanting to get away and relax. I think we achieved our goal.
If I were a betting man, I would put my money on a brunch, and then my wife and I peeling off to get our toes done. Is it toes done or toes did? I’ll have my research assistant pull that up and report back. I suspect a relaxing evening eating and watching some tube before hitting the bed early; we have a busy week ahead, we will rest to get ready for the gauntlet.
As we were walking, Joshua asked if I was happy; I said, “I’m extremely happy.” He wondered what the difference between happy and extremely happy was. I told him that my life, my personal life, and business life were at a ten, and I loved where I was at this moment in time. I asked him how he was doing, and he said he was waiting for his next adventure. Joshua is one of the most exciting people in my life; his story is epic; I always walk away from our time a more enlightened.
He shared he is building a system; it’s a clock with three circles you can put atop the clock and then use a lever to rotate the circles. His vision is to have three people sit at the table and spin it using marbles to help show them their path. I always share that Joshua is like Elon Musk, but I think I will begin describing him as Leonardo da Vinci after yesterday. His mind is not from this world; he’s a unique being.
Knight and Amber are here; they will use our home for their wedding on October 2nd. We won’t be here; we have another friend getting married in Parker, CO, we had already committed to attend. This morning they will walk the property and decide where they will do their nuptials. Since it’s October, they have to prepare for an 80-degree day or maybe snow; you never know when living in Colorado.
I started my positive intelligence training yesterday. An hour of listening, doing, thinking and I think this program will be good for me. I think it would be good for you as well, but are you willing to take the time and put in the work to help rewire your brain’s neural pathways? I’m sure many of my Indiana friends are wondering what the hell I’m talking about. Has our friend gone mad? No, trust me, there is another way to live, and when you lean into the “woo,” life gets interesting.
Speaking of “woo,” Joshua and I were chatting outside the grocery store as the ladies got some goods. We were talking about the head in Seattle, how it was going to be 106 degrees there. It began to rain; he jumped in his truck and sat for a bit of bit; the rain stopped, and he walked back over and showed me his phone. A few years ago, he had launched his company in Seattle; a friend he had not spoken to in 3 years sent him a photo of his speech and said she was just checking in. Josuha wondered if our energy speaking of Seattle sparked something in her that made her reach out. I think the universe is a fantastic place where something bigger than ourselves always turns nobs, creating wonder and awe.
That’s enough; I need to tend to my company, the coffee is made, but one pot will not be enough; we will need a few pots for this crew. Once we all get up, we will retell the tale of last night; we will all go our different ways and remember the magic of our gathering. Life is an exploration of humanity, existence, and woo. Lean in, join me on this journey.
