“When someone comes along and expresses him or herself as freely as they think, people flock to it. They enjoy it.”
— Joe Rogan

Good morning how are you? I’m fine, thank you for asking.  I’m drinking some Death Wish Coffee, the best coffee I’ve found in my 52 years on this planet.  I ordered 12 pounds yesterday on Amazon; I’ve got 3 pounds now; I should be set for weeks.

As most of you know, I listen to Joe Rogan.  I like Joe; I think he’s a curious fellow.  He’s done well for himself, and I like successful people.  He may or may not be vaccinated, I don’t care if he is or not, but last week he got COVID.  Since the beginning of the pandemic, his stance has been, “why not focus on the actual health of the person, why not encourage folks to eat better and move as a way to avoid getting sick.”  It seems like a logical path to ensure that you have more excellent protection than those with health issues if you get the virus.

On Monday of this week, Joe announced he had tested positive for COVID, but “he and his doctor threw everything but the kitchen sink at the virus including ivermectin.  He felt poorly on day one, worse on day two, but on day three, he felt normal. So he tested again and found he did not have the virus.  So in Joe’s case, he was able to get sick, use his healthy lifestyle and some over-the-counter drugs to get well.  You would think people would be happy, but 50% of the population got angry.

NPR, for example, that hotbed of race, COVID, and climate change shared Joe Rogan had taken horse medicine. So, yes, ivermectin is used as a horse dewormer, but it is also used in humans to cure various diseases. So there is a human version, and I think it is a little disingenuous of NPR to share misinformation.

I caught a tweet the other day that simply said, “I don’t like anyone that listens to Joe Rogan.”  I thought, wow, you are eliminating people from your life based on what podcasts they listen? Unfortunately, that is a snapshot into our current society; polarization is now in vogue.  The media did everything they could to discredit Joe; how dare he get sick and get well in 3 days.  Don’t you know people are dying from this virus?

As a fan, I’m happy for Joe, I think he serves as an example for other men how to conduct themselves, and if I get the virus, a breakthrough, I’ll work with my doctor to get the “Rogan Cocktail” to cure what ails me. But, I think when it comes to COVID, there is more than one way to skin the cat. Yes, you can get vaccinated, and I choose that path, but for those unwilling or due to medical issues that can’t get poked, there are other ways to beat the virus that escaped from a lab in Wuhan, China.

We worked at the house until noon, then headed “down the hill” to Denver. First, I got some testosterone; then, we had some sushi, headed to Costco to get our supplies for the holiday weekend, and met our friends at Brooks Place Tavern.   We arrived at 4:00, Keith, Kathy, and Allie were at the bar, we moved to a large table, and others began to join us.  We left at 6:00 and by that time had about 12 of four friends sipping drinks and laughing, sharing stories.

Our friend Adrian came over; Bay stayed with us as well; we will spend our weekend cooking, hiking, and enjoying time with friends.  Jack is still here; his mom went on a winery tour and will pick him up this morning.  Scott, our deck builder, and his team will arrive about 10:00 to begin the deconstruction of our deck to prepare for our new hot tub.  We have a wedding here on October 3rd; we will need to get everything done by the end of September.

I’m hopeful that these words find you in a good place.  I hope your world is as good as ours; we love, laugh, and learn every day.  Our company had a good week; our sales team reported their efforts this past week, we had a few that had zeros which is fine, but some hit a few home runs.  I find weekly reporting of my sales team to be an excellent way to keep everyone abreast of our progress.  Today, we are 114% to goal; I couldn’t be more proud of our team.  As we sat with Bay last night, she closed over 2K of new business; our kids are the lifeblood of our company.

I love my life; I love my friends, my family; I am a man full of love, joy, and happiness.  I live on top of a mountain above Galt’s Gulch.  We have technology that others only dream existed and are bringing some of the top minds in our world to join us and add their 2 “sense” to our community. So if you are a lover of freedom and fantastical adventure, we have a spot for you.

I must roll; I’m on thistle detail this morning; we will work around the house this morning and begin another adventure this afternoon. I grew up in the cornfields of Indiana and then found my paradise.  I encourage you to find your place, maybe a beach, a hidden treehouse in the woods, or perhaps you have already discovered your unique home.  I have, and for us, it has made all the difference.
