The world does not need more people who believe in God; it needs people who believe to start acting like it. – Russell Brand

Good morning; the coffee cup I’m using this morning has a chip around the ridge.  This vessel is my second favorite coffee cup; my first is a large mug given to me by my daughter, which reads DAD.  This cup was purchased at a specialty shop in Confier, and after one use, it got the chip.   As an imperfect human, I connect with the cup, and its blemish, a reminder that only one was perfect.

I’ve got a board meeting at 8:00 a.m. It’s an international board I was asked to join a couple of years back.  It’s a group of people that serve on various boards around the world created to give feedback to corporate on the functioning of our respective boards and what we could do better. I like the idea of constant improvement; thus, I agreed to serve on the board.

At 10:00, we have our team check-in; we join a Zoom as a family and check in on each other; we don’t talk business, we talk us.  I’ve got a few meetings before doing some teaching and training.  I’ll end my day playing nine holes of golf, then spend the evening with the love of my life, my Queen, and now my wife.

I’m continuing to do my Positive Intelligence work. In addition, I’m finding time to do my PQ reps, giving me clarity to go on about my day.  My wife is also doing the program; she’s kicking my ass as usual.  Our Pod of five had our first meeting on Monday; for the next eight weeks, we will check in with each other and help master the program.  I plan on learning and then teaching this program, adding it to my curriculum.

As I sit here, I am reminded the world is full of wonder.  As I look to my right, I can see over 180 miles of earth, the curve of the planet is slight, but it’s there, sorry flat earthers, visit my home, and we can dispel your theory.

I got on Twitter last night; I occasionally do, and it does not make me a better man, but I try and get a sense of what others are thinking.  A man had posted a photo of the young lady turning her back on the flag and a picture of the January 6th storming of the capitol. Below the young lady, he stated, “if you are not ok with this,” but “ok with this” under the capital photo.  I replied, “What if you are not ok with either?”

I find it odd that we live in a society that you have to pick A or B. For example, a rather famous person, Rex Chapman, slapped back at me and said, “are you equating the two?”  I replied, “No, but this man is, and then let Mr. Chapman know I was not a fan of his divisive nature.” But, on the other hand, it is possible to look at events and, as a rational person, not think about right or left, but simply as a human.

As my wife made our supper, I watched Ben Shapiro interview Russell Brand; Ben is a great conservative voice, and Russell is a well-known liberal.  It was a beautiful conversation of different ideas being joined by two beautiful humans.  The fact that I called Ben a beautiful human just triggered about half of my readers; I’m sorry.  My love of Russell has the other half angry, so I guess I am smack dab in the middle of the current divide.  I’m here to help heal the wounds of the current narrative that everyone, everything, and our history are racist. If you care to watch a beautiful conversation, click the link or copy this into your favorite browser:

Interestingly, someone can say that as a white male, I have an “unconscious bias.”  No matter what, due to my upbringing and privilege, I am biased against others.  I wish we could show our hearts; my heart has nothing but love and compassion for all; I don’t look at others and judge on the color of their skin, their sex, their pink or purple hair, I consider them on their nature, and I suggest you do the same.

The world is not an A or B world; it’s a 26 letter alphabet with a mixture of symbols and numbers. Ideas are infinite, and my belief system is not an end-all; it’s the beginning of a conversation.  Maybe I am biased, but how do you know?  Are you not using a collective mentality to lump me in with others that may or may not have a bias, is free-thinking a thing of the past?

In the ’60s, conservatives tried to put their thumb on the liberals.  The hippies didn’t want to be controlled.  They wanted to do drugs, have sex with any and fly their freaky flags.  Ultimately they wanted freedom.  Fast forward 50 years and the scales have flipped; it is now the liberals that want to limit free speech, discriminate against female athletes, and ban ideas and data that do not support their narrative.  Look no further than the work of scientist Brett Weinstein as an example of suppression of thought.

People will tell me it’s not conservative v liberal ideology, and I agree, but this is an easy way to frame our current situation.  I’m not a C or an L; I’m in between, as I suspect you are as well.  So today, give grace, don’t judge others based on anything other than their individual nature and actions.  If we do this, it’s a good start to healing the division in our country.

The world does not need more people who believe in God; it needs people who believe to start acting like it. – Russell Brand
