"There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there has always been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that 'my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge."
— Isaac Asimov

Good morning, happy Tuesday; I hope your Monday was filled with awe and wonder; I had a good day, I emerged from my cave to engage with living working humans. I got up and penned a few thoughts, showered, and hit the road; I called my partner and asked that he meet me to let me in our office. I've not had a key for over ten years to any office; I take pride in that reality.

I arrived about 10:30; I had a 10:30 with my wife and long-time client. They advised that they now use us as the benchmark for selecting all vendors; that was a kind thing to say, and I think it shows our dedication to our client experience. I wrapped that up and met with a couple of people from Seattle about an employee retention tax credit. I'll have legal and financial review the documents, and if they say move forward, we will engage this firm.

I then had a management meeting; I joined our team and had a subway. After that, I headed to a friend's car dealership to help me transfer my daughter's car into her name. I'm gifting it to save her on paying sales tax; it's my last gift to my youngest. She asked what she could do for me, and I said, "sis, keep being you, and you'll ledger will be clear!"

I left there and met with a long-time friend and client. Scott is getting married found his love; his wife sadly died of cancer many years ago, I thought he would die single, but love is in the air. We shared our plans, how long we will continue to work, what life after work might appear. I left there and drove to meet my friend Dave at the Cafferniana in Muncie, IN. I arrived early and pulled upfront; I had about ten minutes to call a friend in Colorado. As that call ended, Dave sent me a note and advised that the coffee shop was closed. When did the iconic Muncie coffee shop close? We agreed to meet at the Tillotson Starbucks; we walked in, there were no seats; I asked, can we not sit here, "sorry, drive through only?" I asked, "why?" the answer, wait for it, "Covid."

I feel like we are at the end of a bad movie, and some of the actors are not willing to let the movie end, so they keep playing a role they know is false. But they continue to act following a script written by a group that wants to control others' lives so bad they can't let the director say the final cut. So keep the movie rolling as long as a few people are in the theater. So many of us left the theater 18 months ago; some are just learning the movie ended, and the lights have been turned on.

We met my friend T-Rex for a drink and apps at my friend's new Indy location of Roots Burger Bar. The drinks were good; the wings were as well; we had a drink and then headed home; I stopped by our local Bodega to get some flowers and a bottle of Saldo for our nightcap. It's nice when your wife no longer thanks you for the flowers; it's an understood agreement, fresh flowers are a staple.

It occurred to me during my visit to the grocery store society has been split into two factions. You either wear a mask, or you don't. It's a virtue signal to others in your tribe, another indication of the division we face in our country. We are a nation divided in search of a man, woman, or transgender that can be an uniter of all, a divider of none. I don't think anyone known today can fill that role, calling all unifying individuals; your number has been called.

I beat my wife home, we fed the dog, and settled into a new series on Netflix called Archive 80, a science fiction series that looks pretty good. We were in bed by 9:00, and my Oura ring tells me I'm in recovery, I'm through my sickness, and I should take it slow another day. My sleep was optimal, and my activity is down due to the little bout with the flu I just experienced.

Today I'll work from home; I've worked like it was 2019 yesterday, moving from appointment to appointment. Today I'll work like it's 2022; my first appointment is at 9:00, and then I have email clean up and another meeting at 2:00. I'm working with one of our team members to launch our Co-Working Space in our Beautiful Parker City office; Jen and I will manage; my real estate partner has no interest in my vision; I'm going to run this one solo.

Why transition our office to a co-working space? Since the pandemic, we only used four of the six offices in the building; there are seven open cubicles, a nice kitchen, and a conference room. We will stock the kitchen with coffee. The idea is to create a small community of business owners and people who do not enjoy working from home. If you are in the Randolph County or Western Delaware County area and are looking for a low-cost place to use as an office, reach out, and I'll put you in touch with our You Work operations manager.

Twenty-five days into the new year, so far, so good, we are making headway; I think this is another banner year for our company, team, and opportunity to continue to show up like a white rabbit in the Matrix series. My goal in life is to impact my various communities, find an area that needs attention, work to bring awareness, and solve problems in our communities. If we all work together, we can end the movie, and our uniters will show themselves.

The shop referred to in Muncie is The Caffeinery, and it is most certainly open; albeit, the hours are slightly different to reflect new covid consumer habits. All of this information is readily available with a quick google search. If you're writing a blog about ignorance, perhaps it would be a good idea to double check your information and sources. While we might not currently be doing all of the things we would like, most of us are still doing our best given the circumstances.
