The Discouragement of Critical Thinking, Poor Joe, Red Wave, Hip, Hop, Fillibuster Failure
"Suddenly, those trusted institutions seemed to be acting in concert to generate fear, promote obedience, discourage critical thinking, and herd seven billion people to march to a single tune, culminating in mass public health experiments with a novel, shoddily tested and improperly licensed technology so risky that manufacturers refused to produce it unless every government on Earth shielded them from liability."
— Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
Good morning, 6:33 a.m., I'm up, coffee is made, I just sent my coffee meeting a note, probably should pass, cough, runny nose, scratchy throat, I have no test, but don't want to give whatever I have on to others. This is getting a little ridiculous.
We both felt better yesterday; we headed up to the office, realized we didn't have a key, returned to our home for the keys, headed back up, and got a quick lunch. Then, we worked at the office until 3:00 and headed to meet "Sam."
Sam was a young man that reached out via LinkedIn; he drove by our office every day and didn't know what we did. He saw something on LinkedIn; we met for a beer. Sam is a husband and father of one expecting number two. We chatted about life, what we did for money, a delightful young man; I'm glad we met.
We returned home and listened to Joe Biden's press conference. At this point, I just feel sorry for the man. Although in his mind he had the best first year of any president in history, I think it might be the worst first-year sans the two fellas that died in their first year. Put Joe on your prayer chain. Inflation, supply chain issues, a bipolar pandemic that has half the country scared and the other half licking faces.
Is the pandemic Joe's fault? No, but his administration's response to the changing dynamics of the situation has been pitiful at best. The cries for those unvaccinated to get vaccinated is a little racist since only about 50% of the black and brown people have bought into the idea of two, three, wait four shots to stop the spread. Other countries are now relaxing masking and other Orwellian measures; when will our country realize this is our new world order? Come on, man!
The Democrats tried and failed to change the filibuster rule last night. Manchin and Sinema held the line with 50 Republicans; sorry, Joe, your calling half the country racists is not good politics. A red wave will happen come November making Joe a lame-duck President; we will see what happens in 2024. There are many reasons the country is moving the opposite of wrong.
Enough about politics, just my thoughts; you can agree or disagree with me; I'm fine either way, just calling balls and strikes as I see them. I've got a virtual meeting at 9:30, and then I will do some recruiting for our firm. I canceled all my appointments today; I'll work from home, my wife has meetings; I hope she wakes up feeling ok.
I did some reading yesterday; I'm reading The Seven Spirtual Laws of Success for those new here. Yesterday I was introduced to the concept of detachment. Letting go of one's past and attachment to a result. The idea is that you can achieve anything you wish, but first, you must detach from the concept of "your" result. A result will occur; it might not be what you think it should be.
I learned this lesson long ago as a young salesperson. Although I never got invested in a client relationship, willing to walk away if they didn't want a long-term relationship, I thought it wise to help protect our firm from transactional people. If you want a transaction, I know many people willing to engage; if you want a relationship, welcome to our community.
In one week, we will begin our journey west. I will take some time today and get some pet-friendly VRBO's for our trip. My go-to Furkot dot com, had a recent update that no longer ties to Air B and B and VRBO, so I have a new way to plan our trips. I think we will stay in Columbia, MO, and Colby, KS, and then arrive home on Saturday. Although we've stayed in both before, I might rebook our past places, or maybe try something new. We have a cool Quonset hut in KS; I suspect we will stay there Friday night.
My wife is getting up, as is our pup. I'll take PVHT for a walk before my morning meeting; it's almost 40 degrees out; it looks like a nice day for a walk. Yesterday, I stopped by the fish market and picked up some basa fish filets. I breaded them and served them with a side of Cuban beans, a nice light meal; I might do perch tonight.
Well, there you have it, the thoughts, ideas, and opinions of a 52-year-old man identifying as a rose beige man of color. My pronouns are hip and hop, and I'm mulling changing my gender to compete in female mixed martial arts. We live in a world where you can be anything you choose to be, and I think it is a perfect time to be alive. So judge me not, love me a lot. See you tomorrow.

“Judge me not, love me a lot.” This is my new favorite phrase!
