Question Everything, Live with Curiosity, Elon Musk is a Bad Ass
"The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existence. One cannot help but be in awe when he contemplates the mysteries of eternity, of life, of the marvelous structure of reality. It is enough if one tries merely to comprehend a little of this mystery each day.— Albert Einstein
Hello, happy Thursday; time begins flying by the older you get. I succinctly remember it being Sunday yesterday? As a child, I remember sitting in a high school classroom, and time seemed not to move, well it's moving now, and I have a lot to accomplish before I pass. And I will die, like you; I have a finite life, something to keep in mind as the seconds float by; this life is not forever.
It's 5:33 a.m., I'm wide awake; I got up around 5:00, made some coffee, grabbed my laptop from my new office set up, and here I sit on my magical purple bean bag writing station. When we got back to the mountain house, I set up my working area in our dining room, the Sherpa Training Room. I bought a holder for my Ipad; I use the Ipad for my virtual meetings, much better clarity than my laptop. My wife works from the kitchen; it allows us both to have our own space, although there are a lot of times we are working together.
We had a productive day yesterday; I snuck in a hike with the pup while my wife was in a meeting. Both of us had seven meetings yesterday, all virtual; my favorite was with our staff. We do an all-staff meeting, and we get to see our team. We got some great news from one of our teammates, Shirley had been diagnosed with cancer, but she is in full recovery as of yesterday.
I talked to my friend Scott in Pennsylvania; he owns an agency and needs help. So I'm working with him to help figure out some financial metrics, cultural enhancement, and a growth path. I love getting under the hood with other insurance agency owners and helping them tweak their machines to get them running in tip-top shape. Over the years, I've helped a few owners enhance their sales process, reorganize for peak performance and get their management team on the same page. But unfortunately, like families, many insurance agencies are dysfunctional.
We headed down the hill to pick up some UPS boxes and get a bite at Brooks Place Tavern. If ever in Conifer, CO, visit BPT, great food, excellent service, and a fantastic atmosphere. Our friends Dave and Nicole own the place, wonderful, beautiful humans. We talked to our friends, caught up, made some plans to connect with a couple for Sunday brunch and an afternoon of Euchre and Cribbage.
We got home and watched some new Kevin Bacon series; we were in bed by 8:30, another nine-plus hours of sleep; I feel rested and ready to take on the day. My OURA ring is telling me my heart rate is elevated; not sure what that is all about; body temperature is also up, she's telling me to take it easy. I have a little cold, but at 52, I have never felt better.
I have another stacked day of appointments, projects, and work to complete. We have a guest coming this morning; Jack, a Chesapeake Bay Retriever, will be staying with us tonight. He's Parker's friend; his mother is our dog sitter; we are returning a favor she did for us. It will be fun; I suspect we will take them on our two-mile walk around our neighborhood; it's going to be beautiful and warm this afternoon, a great day to get out and get some exercise and vitamin D.
The war in Ukraine looks like it's heating up; it seems the dwarf Putin may have underestimated the people of Ukraine. I caught a story about Elon Musk helping the people. Elon created a high-speed satellite network called Starlink; a top official reached out to him and asked for access to Starlink; Elon sent in the equipment so the country could have fast, reliable internet; how cool is that!? The Russian forces are trying to remove their internet infrastructure, but now, with Star Link, the people have a fast, reliable connection.
I love my morning time, just me, my cat, a laptop and a cup of coffee. My fireplace is burning to my right; the sunrise is glorious as usual. Soon my wife will get up, the pup will as well, both will come down and kiss me; it's a beautiful start to my everyday life of wonder and curiosity. I love my life, and I hope you do as well.
