It was a breathtaking sunrise; I woke up when the band of oranges had just started, played in bed, and the band began to expand. Then, it came down as the sun began her glorious morning rise. I’m inspired every morning, and it’s a hell of a way to start your day. I slept great last night. My OURA ring is telling me that my body temperature is up, but then again, we have about twelve blankets on the bed, so that might be the reason for the increase in temperature; tonight, we will peel back a couple of layers and sleep like it’s spring and not the dead of winter.
It's Wednesday. It’s been a wonderful week. The weather has been great, and we have been getting some good work done. At this point, we are change managers, navigating some new opportunities while ending some long-term norms. If you are not changing, you are dying, and thank God we can continue to evolve. The older one gets, the harder the change is to navigate. I’m still pretty handy, but I think that most of my life changes will occur in the next couple of years, and then my life will begin to regulate into a life on a cruise.
I was given an article yesterday. It’s about a topic one of my groups is profoundly diving into. As I read the article, I agreed and disagreed with various points. I think it's normal to see both sides. For some of us, others have been painted a color and only agree if it meets that color's narrative. But I digress.
If you want to get the top takeaways from any article, might I suggest you take the article and copy it into Chat GPT 4, then ask for the top takeaways? Within seconds, the machine will develop a few points to consider. But yesterday, I thought about the counterpoints to the main points made in the article. A few more seconds later, I could share the points and counterpoints with my group to help focus the conversation. This technology allows one to take an idea or narrative and get both sides of the issue. I think this will allow for better seeking of the truth, allowing each of us to get various angles of an idea or concept and then allowing us to form our own opinions.
I took a couple of online classes yesterday, including short 30-minute instructional videos on how to best use artificial intelligence. I watched the videos 1.5 times to get both done in 45 minutes; I had AI develop my review of the videos with some keywords. The output quality is astounding if you know how to input.
Provide context and intent to get the most out of this new tool. Why are you asking this question, and who is the audience? If you want to learn about quantum physics but put it in a form that a twelve-year-old would understand, that must be part of your prompt. Use examples and make sure you regenerate the answer a few times before asking a few questions, and then use the technology to fact-check itself; the more you use it, the more you learn how to maximize the value.
I think this might be the first step in eliminating journalism. For example, we were listening to a program on NPR the other day when returning from Austin. The piece was on the history of tipping, its origins, and the pushback the concept has experienced. I listened intently; it seemed interesting, and the author had spent countless hours putting together the piece. I arrived home and wondered how accurate AI would be if I asked a simple question and included all the areas of investigation used; shockingly, what I got from Chat was equal, if not better, than the human-reported story. It was no shock as we drove to the grocery to hear NPR beginning its onslaught as to the dangers of AI, the misinformation it will spew, and the lack of governmental controls. It’s the wild west; if you hide in your basement and do not lean in, you will be left behind.
It's almost 7:00 a.m. We will work from here, pack our pup, and head to Boulder. We have an event tonight, and we will take the opportunity to stay at our little slice of paradise, the Foot of the Moutain Motel. We will end the week strong; I have my men's group meeting on Friday, and I’ll engage with other curious individuals on the spectrum of humanity to open our minds collectively.
The world is changing faster than ever; you can choose to be a part of the new world or remain in the olden times. I’m choosing option one; we are in for a hell of a ride with many ideas shattered. Long-held beliefs will be rewritten, and a new reality will propel us into a world that we can’t imagine today, but a few of us realize it will be very different from how we live today. It is up to you to stay the course, get on the rocketship of new ideas and processes, and help find opportunities for the millions that will soon be displaced. It’s not doomsday; it’s a time akin to the Wizard of Oz when Dorthy went from black and white to radiant color. It’s your choice to stay in Kansas or join the few of us moving to Oz.
