Our Next Rock Star Hire, Our Deck Project is Approved, Go Fever, Bodily Fluid Collection, Exploration
"Every cell in your body is eavesdropping on your thoughts. As it listens, it decides on whether to create a quantum of health or a quantum of disease." - Deepak Chopra
Good morning, beautiful people. How are you this morning? I feel great, but my OURA ring is telling a different story. I didn’t sleep the best, which is unusual, and my body temperature is up. Thankfully, I use my mind, not technology, to dictate my attitude; I think today will be another great day. Did you get your taxes in, did you make sure you are funding other countries instead of our own? I must admit it’s one hell of a racket.
We had a very productive day yesterday. We both started early, diving into our respective projects. I'm thrilled to share that I made a verbal offer to Mr. Caden Shumaker, and he enthusiastically accepted. I’m delighted to welcome our own Ronn and Trish Shumaker’s eldest son to our business. Now, it’s up to corporate to work their magic and complete the process.
We also got our building permit for our deck. We started this process in May of last year; we wanted to replace our old wood deck with composite, so we removed the rails of our deck, and then the building inspector showed up and shut us down. I did not think we would need a permit when exchanging a like deck for a like deck, but color me wrong. What happened next will be the subject of an article about government inefficiencies. My next book might be a horror screenplay about a husband and wife trying to build a deck, but the evil demons at the county courthouse thwart their every move.
That project will start soon; once complete, we have a couple of other things to update, and then our house will be renovated, and we can relax. We added a 12-foot-by-12-foot dining platform that will allow us to entertain like never before. I can’t imagine the gatherings we will host in the future; my wife is the Queen of the throw-together, and I envision many nights of music, laughter, and love looking over the lights of Denver.
My daughter and I are working on an excellent opportunity; we will spend time building our case for our underwriters; it’s an opportunity I dug up a couple of weeks ago; it’s fun working with your kid; she’s much brighter than I and her work ethic reminds me of a young Andy Thompson. Anson’s work ethic is still strong, but different. I am no longer up at 5:00 a.m.; I now enjoy a 6:00 to 6:30 a.m. waketime. It’s a slight change, but it is one that I appreciate.
Caitlan Clark gets picked by the Indiana Fever, which is excellent for Indianapolis; I expect their games to be packed, and my wife and I will see our first professional women’s basketball game. I’ve spent way too much time shitting on the sport; it’s time I eat a little crow and see a once-in-a-lifetime player. This would be a game-changer for women athletes if they could keep out those pesky men.
I’m collecting my urine today. I know, too much information, but I had blood work done a couple of weeks ago, and now I’m doing a Dutch test. It’s very restrictive, with no caffeine (I’m cheating with one cup). I must collect at five specific times throughout the day; there should be no alcohol, only clear liquids. I’ll do my best; I ate clean and didn’t drink yesterday, and I’ll do the same today. I want my urine to be the best urine I can produce. The results will be compared to my blood work; I’ll head to Boulder to meet my medical team, which will review and adjust my intake of peptides and other things I have yet to understand. At this point, it’s all about longevity: how can I milk as much time out of this meat sack as possible?
Tomorrow, we head to Boulder for a company function. Our Boulder branch is having a program, and we are supporting our partners by attending. Of course, we will stay at the Foot of the Mountain; it’s our little slice of paradise. We will head home on Thursday. We have zero plans this weekend, but next week, we board a plane and head to Alabama for Bo Bean's second birthday, and we will see our son-in-law hit some dingers for the Montgomery Biscuits.
I encourage you to take some time and focus on your health; your time here is short, and you can maximize your longevity by working at the cellular level. I’m still unsure how this will work, but I’ll give you a full report as I begin this health journey. I know they say don’t hire family, but my wife and I are second generation, and our daughter has become one of our top rock stars. Caden is family, and I’m joyful about our ability to bring him into a rewarding career. Our travel plans are coming together; we will be on the road a bit this year, flying, driving, and enjoying new communities; the more we travel, the more I believe we are connecting with something bigger than ourselves; the world is a prominent place with a lot of wonderfully kind people. Make sure you get out and meet people from all walks of life. I hope you have an engaging day; something makes you smile, and don’t forget the best way to find joy is to do something kind for another human.
