NPR’s Obsession with Climate Change, Another Sixty Billion, The Impact of Energy
"If you want to find the universe's secrets, think in terms of energy, frequency, and vibration." – Nikola Tesla.
Tuesday. It’s another beautiful day. The sun is shining, and the temperatures are rising. We left our windows open last night and let the mountain air cool our bedroom. I woke up to the smell of mountain air. It’s peaceful here; the coffee maker is singing her song, my 32 ounces of fresh, ice-cold mountain water sits by my laptop, my wife is still asleep, the pup just went back up to cuddle, and my cat is making a bed in the chair across from me, I have no idea what is in my mind, so let’s light this firecracker.
Yesterday was busy. I had four appointments, and we knocked them out and headed to get some chores done. We did get a morning walk-in, 2 miles. I can feel it today, and I suspect we will go for another hike today. The weather swings up here are wild. One day, you’ll have 4 inches of snow; the next day, the snow is gone, and it’s 70 degrees. It’s a spring day today, but we can get snow until June; you never know what the weather will do at 8232 feet.
We will work here a couple more days, then fly to Alabama to see some family; Bo is turning two, and he’s excited to have a party. I got a Tesla as our rental car, and I’ve driven a Tesla, but not for an extended period; I look forward to enjoying an EV for a spell. With all the travel, I still don’t think an EV is right for us. Maybe a hybrid would work, but for now, we are gas-guzzling climate change deniers.
We listened to NPR on the way to complete our tasks, and I think they are now using the term climate change every fifth word. They seemed to have slowed down on their fascination with racism, and of course, the pandemic couldn’t last forever, so climate change it is. They are even raising money to spend more resources on, wait for, you guessed it, climate change. Like many other things in society, there is a cult-like feeling about the obsession with people driving cars and flying in airplanes. And have you noticed the people who scream the loudest have the most significant carbon footprint?
I think the folks at NPR think that everyone lives in a city. They always talk about mass transit being the key to our climate change woes, but having grown up in a town in the middle of the country, Beautiful Parker City, Indiana, mass transit is not a thing; we don’t have buses, trains, or subways; we get around by cars and cool pick em up trucks. It's like they don’t know the middle of America exists.
We are sending another 60 billion of our hard-earned tax dollars overseas. Looking around our country, you might see that a 60-billion-dollar injection into our infrastructure would be wise. Maybe we could get our citizens clean water or provide mental health care for people experiencing homelessness. The level of corruption in all governments is astounding. The house even waived Ukraine flags upon the passage of the bill; I’m an American first kind of fellow; I don’t understand why people like giving our money away when we have so much need at home.
I’ve got a relatively light day today; once I get my email cleaned up, I think I’ll take a dip in the hot tub; sitting in a jet-powered tub of hot water on top of a mountain is an excellent way to start a day. We have some chores; I bought a couple of guitar wall hangers for Elizabeth and my Martin. Multiple people have shared the importance of having a humidifier to keep my ladies moist; I’ll hang the guitars and gently use one of our humidifiers to keep the area moist. My friend Anna just cringed.
I got a note from our neighbor Sue, who needed another joke book for her nephew. I signed it and put it in her and Kevin’s mailbox during our hike. My wife has asked that I order one copy of my books to display; I’ll try to get that done today. I can fill up a bookcase, but I have no plans to stop churning out content. I have a new idea I’m currently researching. Writing will be an anchor of this new idea. I have a lot of work to do, but it will be a reality.
I had a nice chat with a long-time friend, Ashley Beck Culler, a young lady I hired years ago to do some copywriting for me when I was selling websites in the early 90’s. A few years later, I found her working with one of my clients; we’ve kept in touch over the years, and she decided to start a new chapter in her life. She’s mulling her options and taking time to enjoy life; she’s a must-follow on LinkedIn; she’s an inspirational young woman, a loving wife, mother, and yoga enthusiast, and her energy is infectious.
We spoke about energy and how each person has a different energy level. Today, one of my best friends is a man I met at a rooftop bar during a networking event. He commented on my energy, and I shared the sentiment about him: like-minded energy is something that can bind humanity. But for every positive-energy person, there are negative-energy people, and I try to avoid those folks. I don’t need your negativity in my world; I don’t need your energy dirt on my rose-colored glasses. Think about your energy today. Are you pushing out positive energy, and if not, why not? There has never been a better time to be alive in the history of mankind; not to be juiced, pumped, and excited about the coming seconds, minutes, hours, and days is a mistake many make.
