Minneapolis, KS, The End of Masks, Exploration

Greetings from Minneapolis, KS; who knew there was a Minneapolis in KS? Now you know. I’m sitting in a nice chair; above me; there is two head of a deer and maybe a moose. We are staying in a three-bedroom carriage house above a barn in the boonies. We drove 7 hours yesterday and arrived at 5; we will do the same today and land in St. Charles, MO.
This place might be our favorite VRBO, and we might start using it for our travels. It’s 7 hours from our CO home and 10 hours from our Indy home. If we ever need to make a 2-day trip, this is where we would stay. There is a pond here, cats, the main house looks like something from Yellowstone, and our accommodations are similar.
As we drove, we listened to the audiobook Bold, how to create wealth and impact society. It’s about exponential growth and tells stories like one might find in Good to Great. It shared the story of Kodak developing the first digital camera only to shelve it due to it interfering with their primary business. Due to that mistake, Kodak is now bankrupt, and most photos are taken on phones eliminating the need for film.
They do a deep dive on 3-d printing and how the international space station uses a 3-d printer to make most of the spare parts that it uses as things break. I might buy a 3-d printer and begin playing with the technology; as a creative, I like to make things, and I wonder what I might build? In listening to the book, it discussed a website called Quirky, where you can take an idea, and if someone likes your opinion, they will fund it. I’ve got an idea I’ll pitch on the way home; I set up my account on the path here yesterday.
Before arriving, we stopped at the grocery store, we bought sandwich material, and my wife baked turkey, ham, and Swiss sandwiches with jalapenos. I’m starting to put jalapenos on everything I eat; I like the fire. Speaking of fire, how about that court decision that ended making public transportation? Are we moving towards a world of sense and logic? Wouldn’t that be interesting?
I read a few articles about people who will continue to wear masks when traveling regardless of the rule, and I say good to you. If you feel you need extra protection, go for it, but please don’t ask me to do the same. I watched a press conference where a reporter asked the white house a question about the mask rule. The response was, “are you a doctor?” as if only a doctor can comment on the need and validity; I’m not a doctor, but I have a brain, and my brain tells me this has been a mass government overreach of our liberties.
Yesterday afternoon, we got word that a lawsuit we had filed over three years ago had been settled in our favor. Our judicial system is flawed, but justice can be served if you can hang in there. We will share some money with our team and put the rest in the bank, maybe investing a little in cryptocurrency. My friend K.C. is helping me navigate the crypto world; he recommends we buy utilities vs. actual coins. It sounds like a mutual fund approach; why not throw $10k in and see what happens?
We plan to work here for a couple of hours, then hit the road while one of us drives, the other will work a little, and then we will listen to our audiobook. We have discovered we like our road trips; for four years, we flew weekly, never wanting to drive. My rule for years was that if the drive were over 6 hours, I would pass. Today, we break our 16-hour drive home into blocks of six hours trips. The pup travels well; it gives us time to chat about life, liberty, our company, and ideas about the future.
We got some photos of our daughter days before she was to birth Bo Anson. I’ll share a picture with you, she’s a beautiful young lady, and we are heading east to meet the newest member of our family. I will also get to meet our new granddaughter, I have a dream that I can get all three grandchildren together for the first time, and I suspect this will happen many times in the future. There is a reason we built eight bunk beds at our mountain house.
I talked to an old friend yesterday; he got a DUI on Saturday and was looking for advice about the next steps. I shared my battle with booze and how maybe it was time to have a season of sobriety. I connected him with a life coach; I shared a gift and opportunity in everything that happens; use this as a gift and don’t’ look back. My life experiences have given me the ability to listen to others and provide helpful advice; I like helping others, as I’m sure you do.
That will do for today; I will clean up my email, send some updates on various projects I’m working on, and then hit the road. Kansas is a very boring state to drive through, and thankfully we are close to the border; the speed limit is 75, so we roll at about 80 to make the time pass. Life is a journey, and we must learn to enjoy every moment. If you are interested in my work, I did write a book a few years back called Enjoy the Fucking Journey; you can find it here:
Good luck today; explore the world and explore yourself. One of the problems is that we accept what others tell us as reality without ever bothering to use our critical thinking skills to find the way, truth, and light. The world is not as black and white as one might think; there are billions of grey areas waiting to be discovered—cheers to my fellow explorers.
