Happy Saturday; it looks a little cloudy; maybe my friend, the sun will make an appearance.  A wonderful day yesterday; I started with my men’s virtual group.  We met virtually due to our youngest and healthiest members who almost died of COVID. “Rob” is the first person I’ve known well that got COVID and had issues; history will show why and how some people were affected more than others.  By the way, “Rob” is fit as a fiddle, no underlying health issues, a rare vessel for that asshole COVID.

It was good to see “Rob” although 35ish, he has the mind of an 80-year-old sage.  When he speaks, I’m always in awe of the wisdom he can drop of all of us.  He reminds me of YODA, although he’s not green and is about 5 foot 10 inches.  My men’s group has become a bastion of awakening and understanding.  If you are not in a small group, might I recommend you lean into a group that asks questions like “give me an update on your mind, body, and spirit.”  I’d like you to think about that question, how are you, no, I mean how are you really?

One of our members decided to move on.  We have a process; you can’t just leave us, we have to give you immense love, and that’s what we did for “Ted” yesterday.  I love “Ted” and will keep in touch with my friend, his time with us was over, he made his decision, and although I’m sad to see him go, a new chapter will open for all of us.

I headed off to meet an old friend, my sales trainer, the man that helped form me into this current vessel.   We’re both doing well, but our focus was on those that did not fare well in the past year.  Yes, some of us have thrived in this unique time, but many did not. That should be our focus.  When asking my friend what we could do, this was Matt’s advice.  When someone states, “I think we need to pass a law that…” you punch them in the throat.  I’ll share that traffic patterns, and parking in Indianapolis are jacked up.  Uber’s are 15 minutes out; plan your day accordingly.

I returned home, did some chores, cleaned up email, and at 4:15, my friend Paul and his lady Lisa from Rhode Island showed up.  We walked to the Dug Out to meet my Ukrainian friend Victor and Common Sense powerhouse, Sam.

Victor and his partner Eugene run a successful automotive company in Indiana.  A self-made man with a young kid, an entrepreneur, my kind of people.  Sam, the mother of 9, helps people with their mental, financial, and physical health.  She’s got a podcast I’ve been on; those will start launching soon; keep your eye on my friend Sam. 

We left and headed to dine with Paul and Lisa at a local Italian joint. I had a Lindsey Lohan martini, dirty; I mean filthy.  After a couple of martinis, our food arrived; I had pasta with sweet sausage, it was terrific.  We walked home and sat in our courtyard, and chatted about life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.  Our guests stayed; it was a late-night and a good night.

PVHT is up, as is our guest JoQueen; they have formed a friendship; the 50-pound dog has learned that a 5-pound cat is indeed the boss of the house.  They love each other, but sometimes PVHT oversteps her bounds, and JoQueen lets her know her place.  A strike to the face is all that is needed to let PVHT understand what is up!

My wife is cleaning; we have blinds in our Indy home; we picked up a swifter, she’s cleaning and chatting as I make my soup.  It’s a lovely Saturday morning here at our Indianapolis chalet.  Today we will work around the house, getting things ready for our VRBO guests.  Tonight we have dinner with some new friends. I met her on a Zoom call; we are doing a fundraiser for her charity; she wanted to meet my Queen and me.  Another Italian restaurant, another place within walking distance of our home.

I want to go back to my conversation with Sam and Victor.  Victor asked, “you write every day?”  I shared I did 1000 words most days; I write about 350 days a year, taking an occasional break when I’m sick or don’t have the nerve to empty my mind. Victor asked if I ever thought about monetizing my work, and I said, “it’s one thing I do that I don’t do for money.”  He countered, but if you did, you could give it away to those in need.  The older I get, the more I see myself helping those in need; touche Victor, I’ll begin working on that project soon.

Sam was sharing that my work was common sense for the commoner.  I don’t try and tell people how to live; instead, of giving them a glimpse into my version of life, which is not for everyone, but it is for some. If you are reading these words, maybe this feeds you, or perhaps you are trying to find the error of my ways; either way, thank you for taking the time to read my work.

Day three of Spirit Animal Coffee, do yourself a favor and get online and buy a bag of these magical beans of wonder. My friend Felix would appreciate some financial consideration.  That’s enough.  I mean, I can wrap this up and tend to my chores.  My mind is running on empty, which is the intent of this little daily exercise.
