Justice for Jussie, Don, Matt, Yellowstone, Ice Ice Baby, We/Whey
“Socialism is a beautiful idea. It is only as a reality that it has been disastrous. Among people of every race, color, and creed, all around the world, socialism has led to hunger in countries that used to have surplus food to export.... Nevertheless, for many of those who deal primarily in ideas, socialism remains an attractive idea -- in fact, seductive. Its every failure is explained away as due to the inadequacies of particular leaders. “

The lick of a camel awakened me—happy midweek, my friend, lover, brother, mother, or other. So, I’m back to give you another batch of word soup; I hope you are having a great week; I’m loving life, just snuggled for 30 minutes with my wife; I am blessed beyond measure.
Yesterday was a good day; we are working with our team, doing a five-year plan. We have some folks that are starting to see their end game, and we are planning on how to transition their roles in the firm; we have some young people wanting to join. So we will be very precise with a couple of youngsters and continue our vision of a great culture, profitability, and work-life balance.
We had lunch at Georges on Binford, it’s close to the office, and we like the server at the bar. After that, we headed back for an interview with a new candidate and then went to our Indy home. I had a call at 3:30 with a good friend, a long-time client, and someone I think of as a mentor. He’s starting something extraordinary, we talked risk management, and then I picked his brain with a new opportunity; it’s nice to have a Yoda or two as friends.
We did get some sad news; as we were working at the office, Cousin sent a note he was heading back to Michigan; we love having him stay with us; he’s fun, loves to walk Parker, and his mindset is an excellent counter to mine. We think very differently about most things, but we are very civil in exchanging thoughts and ideas. I wish more people acted like my Cousin and me.
We walked to the Dugout to meet our friend Don; Don is kind of a big deal. I met him during the pandemic; when I returned to Indy, I made sure I met with him; he runs a pitch contest for high-school students. His last batch got some venture funding, he’s changing the lives of the young people in the Midwest, and I think he will take his program nationally in the coming years.
I gave him a copy of my new book, we sat and had a drink; he was just coming off a two-day fast, so a beer was the perfect drink for him. My wife and I did our usual Tito’s, Soda, with a splash of cranberry and lemon. We have deemed the Dugout our new meeting place, it’s been remodeled, and they are adding a campus of adult fun this winter. We are getting to know the owners and staff, all beautiful people.
Don is married to a beautiful lady, he has three kids, all rock stars, and he took a moment to share how he viewed my Queen and my relationship. He said one of the reasons I like spending time with you both is how you love each other. He and his wife have a similar vibe; when a relationship hits all cylinders, it’s like heaven on earth. I might have died; life can’t be this joyful all the time.
We came home; I had a couple of packages from Amazon. I got some new Vibra foot shoes, tried them on last night, very comfy. We also got a tabletop ice machine. We have a commercial ice machine at our mountain house; the one in our refrigerator stinks. An excellent little device churning out two sizes of cubes, we use Liquid Death Water to fill it; we have some of the best ice in Indiana.
We watched the latest episode of Yellowstone and were in bed by 8:30; I got a great night of sleep, woke up with a smile, made some Death Wish Coffee, and here I sit, opening my thoughts, ideas, and world view for all to see. I’ve got a nice day planned, catch up on some work, then have lunch with another friend, an icon in the Indy area; much like Don, Matt is one of the most intelligent people I know; I always enjoy our chats.
I’ve got a couple of books to mail out that’s on my list; I will work on my Ted Talk, prospect for our future employee bench, and spend some quality time with my Queen. Nevertheless, I think it is a great day, and it’s December 1st, so cheers to a new month, a reset if you will, a time to begin preparing for the arrival of that obese man in the red suit who has a few PETA violations for the way he treats his reindeer.
I caught an update on the Jussie case. If you don’t know, my friend, a beautiful Almond Colored Man, was attacked by two MAGA hat-wearing men, and I hope he gets justice. I’ll report as the trial moves forward. My Twitter blue checkmarks were outraged when the story broke; it will be nice to see the evidence to make up our minds knowing the whole story. But, if what Jussie said is true, another example of our country being a racist-infested place that needs a mass overhaul of our systems. If more facts prove a different narrative, well, many folks will owe apologies that may or may not ever be shared.
Well, that will do it for today. I’m living my best life; I encourage you to check out my new book, The Rule of 8%, now available on Amazon and most adult book stores. It’s an excellent way to start your day, a little devotional of common sense and perspective. If you are a regular reader of my work, I ask that you send it to a friend for Christmas, just an idea from a man identified as sand, and my pronouns are we / whey.
