“Racism does not have a good track record. It’s been tried out for a long time, and you’d think by now we’d want to put an end to it instead of putting it under new management.”— Thomas Sowell

Good morning, good afternoon, good evening, or whenever you are finding this collection of words.  I made Death Wish coffee with Liquid Death water; it is going to be a joyful morning.  My pup is making her rounds; I’m going to need a larger lap; I didn’t know we got a rescue lap dog?

It was a busy day yesterday; I had some project work to do; I’m now the recruiter for our company, I am building a bench of talent to make sure we have the right people on the bus as we grow.  I have never prospected for employees, but I’ve decided to go on offense in this environment.

We worked here until 1:30, then headed over to get some tacos at Mr. Tequilla.  Cousin is here, his mother arrives today, we will have a house full for Thanksgiving, and then this weekend will be a busy wedding weekend.

Bay joined us for dinner last night; we headed over to what I believe to be the best restaurant in Indianapolis, Gearaldines.  It’s a treasure few know about, but the word has seeped out based on last night.  It was packed, and I got to see a long-time friend who was making his first visit to the joint.

It’s a high-end steak place, the martinis are old school with blue cheese olives, the manager has become a friend, and the service is off the charts.  I had a petit filet with blue cheese crumbles, and we got the family-style shrooms, which are the good kind.  We came home, played Euchre, the boys won two games, and then Bay started us on a Ted Lasso journey; this looks to be a fun ride.  Bay ended up staying in the carriage house, she’s family, and we will make it official when her brother weds our daughter in 3 days.

I stopped by my mother and father the other day and picked up some meat.  We buy half a cow once a year from Flesher Farms, the best meat you will ever put in your mouth. So I got some steak, and my wife asked for tongue; my wife loves tongue.  I’m not a big tongue fan, nor do I like organ meat; I think it is generational; liver, heart, and brains are not my thing.

We had a minor snafu with our ribs for tomorrow; my wife ordered $187.00 worth of ribs, and according to door dash, they were delivered, but we have no ribs.  The restaurant was no help, we will contest the credit card charge, and I’ll head to Costco to pick up some pork loin and offer our guests shredded pork with various sauces.

I feel like this is a time of reset, looking at life, and changing things up.  I have bounty and treasure, but how does one live their best life?  I’m on a quest to find my best me, new haircut, new tattoo; I’m going to show up differently, you have all been warned.

We have a busy day; I’m working this morning, and then we have a pedicure at 10:00, a spray tan at 1:00; we are getting pretty for the wedding, I know it is not the manliest thing to do, but I like an excellent Pedi, and a spray tan changes my ivory tone to almond. So as of this moment, I’m identifying as ivory, but at 1:30, I’ll identify as almond, skin tone baby, skin tone!

A quick update, my LD and DW morning cocktails are hitting the spot.  My wife, cousin, and Bay are all asleep, as is my dog.  She has decided that claiming her place on the couch is the right move; our pup is a unique creature, always giving love, and she may or may not be a comedian.

The next few days will be a celebration of family, new unions, and finding the gender of our grandbaby. We have one girl and another girl on the way. Will we get our first boy?  Who cares? As long as the kids are healthy, I don’t care if it’s a boy or girl.  Grandkids are fantastic; cheers to the next 50 years of watching the next generation impact our world.

Espresso Friday is in 2 days; make sure you get up at the butt crack of dawn and stand in line to get your $100.00 TV at the local Kmart.  I’m not an espresso Friday kind of guy.  I’ll spend the day playing cards, enjoying family, maybe watching some tube, just relaxing.

My wife just got up, as did Bay; they will enjoy the LD, DW cocktail.  Bay is working today; cousin will get up in a bit, celebrating our euchre win.  High fives, a retelling of each hand, the loners, the losers, the laughter.  I know many folks reading this are asking, “what the heck is euchre?”  so let me explain.  Euchre is a card game with 24 cards; it’s a midwestern thing; if you live in the Midwest, chances are you know the game. If you are from another part of the world, you should learn the game, have hours of fun and family time.

Let’s close with some racist news.  According to Twitter: “On Monday, @OSSTFD20Teacher announced that their rules would be changed so that each non-white union member would have his/her/they/their vote weighted more than white members.  They had slides to help justify their decision to the rank and file.  Doing anything based on skin color is racist; I don’t care if it’s ivory, almond, porcelain, or beige; using one component of an individual to reward or remove is, well, racist.  We might be living in the most racist time of my life, and I, for one, will call it out every time it raises its ugly head.

I want to live in a world where every human is judged and loved based on the content of their character, not the color of their skin.  I know some porcelain folks that are horrible humans, and one of the most incredible humans I know leans almond.  Skin tone does not indicate favor or flavor.  It’s time to call a spade a spade and end this charade of a bullshit narrative.

“Racism does not have a good track record. It’s been tried out for a long time, and you’d think by now we’d want to put an end to it instead of putting it under new management.”— Thomas Sowell
