Good morning, good evening, good afternoon; whenever you find this collection of letters and words, sit back, I think this will be a fun one.  I’m feeling a little frisky.  I trust you had a good weekend; we did; my belly hurts from laughing; you can always tell a good weekend when you have belly aches.

So some of you know of my recent run-in with the folks at Costco, I was passing out some vinyl, and a security guard asked me to leave.  Well, according to the news, Costco might want to focus on their credit card system after someone began skimming credit card data and then using the data to fraud Costco clients. So allowing me to enter a store and share some vinyl love might make up for the pain and misery they are injecting (vaccine reference) into their clients.

We met Josh and Paula at Tick Toc, the “best bloody marry in Indianapolis” and an excellent little brunch menu.  Paula had alerted me that a nephew had just got his first record player but only had one album; I provided some vinyl love to share with her family.  The Bloody’s were excellent, as was the staff, I think our servers’ name was Vulva, and she was a beautiful young lady.  One thing about Vulva, she had nice lips, anyway; before we left, I asked Paula for an album back and handed it to her, and she was so overwhelmed she asked for a hug.  Take that, Costco!

We left there and headed to watch Colt’s game. Then, we went to our local watering hole, the Dugout, and bellied up to the bar.  We watched the game and met Wendy, who shared she had some phantom shingles pains, so I snapped a photo and sent it to my mother to add her to the prayer chain.  Amazingly the entire time we were there, Wendy had no pain; thanks, Mom!

Our friends Rick and Saundra joined us, Rick you might remember, is the neighbor we celebrated his life for the night before; he slept in but was fine after having his first bloody mary.  I shared with Wendy that I had a gift for her that might make her cry, and I didn’t want to see any tears when I gave her my blessing. I had a vinyl album with me, and as I left-handed it to her with fanfare.  She lit up like a daisy in the sun and shared her husband had a record player; she would give it a listen!  After the game, we walked home, safety first, and sat in our kitchen.

Whilst sitting in our kitchen, my wife, cousin, and I had discussions about religion, politics, and abortion before heading into the living room to watch a movie.  It was noted that my beard was a little out of order; our daughter is getting married in a few days, my wife asked that I tend to my beard, so I shaved it off.  I should have nicely groomed facial hair the day of the nuptials.  As of this moment, I look like a fourteen-year-old boy in need of a haircut.

I had referenced my Ted Talk; I’ll share a little more; I focus on the word melanin and the vast swath of colors of humanity.  I did a read-through with my wife, and her first words were, “that’s uncomfortable!” So I said that is the intent; I need people to be uncomfortable to wake up to the nonsense perpetrated on our people.  “What you mean our people,” I think we are all equal, end of the story.

We’ve got dinner reservations tonight for Gearldines, one of the best restaurants you have never heard of in Indianapolis; it’s one of our favorites.  We’re going with cousin and our kid and her finance.’  They have an excellent beef wellington; I think that is my dish tonight, it could change, but as of now, the b.w. is calling my name.  I plan on ordering one Lindsey Lohan martini; the dirtier, the better.

Cousin is leaving tomorrow, heading home; we’ve had a great week; I think he returns this weekend to hang again; he’s got some work in Michigan but will plan to hang with us for the Thanksgiving holilday and then stay for the wedding.  The wedding will be fun; we have family coming in from all over the country.  I think it sad we only get to see family during weddings and funerals, let’s try to fix that, whos’ with me?

A busy work week, I’ve got a coaching call this morning, a board meeting tomorrow, a travel day on Wednesday, another morning meeting on Thursday, and Friday. So the third week of the month is by far the busiest for me, and I like it that way!  I like being active, and I suspect if you read my stuff, you do as well; I don’t think lazy folks take the time to read; they are lazy.

So active people, this is my gift to you.  Oh, I do have one more story.  Years ago I was at a convenience store, and my card was not working, I had no cash, and I can’t remember what I was buying, but the man behind me said “I got you!” and I turned around to see a stranger, he said, “Pay it forward.”   I never forgot that random act of kindness, and Saturday, I had an opportunity to fulfill my destiny.

We were at Needlers, the man in front of us had a few bags of groceries, and after three failed credit card attempts, I said, “Hey man, I got this!”  He looked at me, puzzled.  “What?”  I said, “I’ll pay for your groceries.”  He said, “thanks, but this happens all the time; if she reruns it, it will work, and that is what happened.”  He thanked me for the gesture, and I shared that I had someone do that for me in the past and was excited to get to pay it forward.  So I’m still waiting to extend the gratitude of the person-years ago; if you need help, I’m here!  “I got you!”
