Expanding to Chicago, Red Rocks, a Peaceful Easy Feeling, The Calm within the Storm

“We can’t worry away our problems, but we can worry anxiety into our mind and body. Thought energy is powerful. It’s not easy to do, but we serve our well-being best when we face our struggles head-on and accept difficulties beyond our control, and trust that we can garner the support and strength we need to jump the hurdles. Life needn’t feel like walking on a tightrope of tension. True peace is the calm within the storm.”

Good morning, we have a house full here; I’m not in my usual spot; I’ve moved to the training room.  Outside my windows sits Bay on her phone.  My wife and Nate are chatting in the other room, Carly and Josie are here, and Paul just left to go on an adventure.

We worked here until about 2:00, then too, Carly and Josie and PVHT on a hike at Flying J.  It’s one of our favorite hikes; it’s got a small pond, the dog loves to swim.  After the hike, we stopped by the Well to get a bite to eat; our friends were there, we sat and chatted for a few before heading home.

We arrived home and then headed to Red Rocks, our third straight night of attendance. However, this trip was a little different, we did not have tickets to, but an old college friend and her husband had tickets for The Avett Brothers.  We met them in the upper south lot and chatted for an hour or so before urging them to get into the show; they are lovely people we could have sat there all night.

It was their first time at Red Rocks; one of my favorite things is to take people to space for the first time; the shock and awe are something to behold.  They sent a couple of photos; they were beaming; I’m happy when my friends are happy, cheers Scott and Heidi, what a great time we had and will have in the future.

We headed back to Conifer, and guess where we landed Brooks Place Tavern?  Do you see a theme in our life?  We have successfully shrunk our community down to about four places: Red Rocks, BPT, the Well, and home. So that is our little universe.   We arrived to sit at the bar, and our friend Allie was there; we pulled up a chair beside her and ordered a club sandwich, a couple of Ceaser salads, and chatted as we ate.  She got a sandwich for her 6 foot 5 son, who probably will pitch in the major leagues.

We got home, and the kids were here; my wife and I took on the others in euchre; we’re a card-playing group.   Paul went to the Avett Brothers show and arrived home at God knows when.  Our friend Joshua will come about 3:00; we will load up our cars and head back to Red Rocks to catch one of our favorite bands, the Avett Brothers.  A little tip about Red Rocks, you can tell a band’s success by the number of nights they get at the venue; our friends Scott and Seth are up to a 3-night run.

If you ever want to go to a show at Red Rocks, let me recommend you park in the Upper South Lot.   It’s the best parking spot, easy in and easy out.  There is a Chick Fil tent outside as you exit; the beautiful hot sandwich is an excellent gift as you leave the venue. Also, there is room to dance if you so choose.  I think one of my missions is to get as many people to Red Rocks as possible; it’s a religious event, no matter the artist.

Ok, so, how was your work week?  I think I can finally announce we are expanding to the Chicago area.  We have hired a young man to represent us in one of the largest cities in the nation.  A cesspool these days, but according to Lori Lightfoot, crime is on the decline; what an amazing mayor that woman is. So, Chicago today, Dubi tomorrow, our firm is becoming the little engine that could.

It’s peaceful here; I can hear the fans in the other room using my sound sense.  I’m starting to realize there is an airplane above most of the time; I’m keying into my senses using our new positive intelligence work.  I did download another book titled This is your Mind on Plants by Michael Pollan.   They interviewed him on NPR. It’s a deep dive into some of the mystical plants we have on this planet, how they may or may not help us expand our consciousness.

He starts with caffeine and then moves to other things like opium, magic mushrooms, and other mind-altering substances.  They are beginning to realize that some of these plants might cure mental illness, PTSD, and other mental issues.  Imagine if a plant could solve the homeless crisis.  There is hope; lean in and believe.

As we left Red Rocks, the Eagles came on my phone, and Don and Glynn began signing Peaceful Easy Feeling, and I thought this is the soundtrack to my day. It’s funny how music can summarize one’s day with a bit of music and lyrics.  I’m honestly the most blessed man you will encounter today; I’ve got amazing kids, an amazing wife, a wonderful life, and each day is another gift to unwrap. Fortunately, I’m living my best life with a couple of chinks in my armor, but hey, I’ll strive to be a better version of myself starting now. So cheers. I’ll see you tomorrow.
