Welcome to my morning word soup, where you can find

enlightenment, excitement, and, some might say, excrement, but we all need the haters. I’ll keep this one light, happy, and shiny, but no promises; we face some exciting times, and I’m unsure where my mind will go today.

I’ll start with sharing we slept in; I was up before 6:00 yesterday but woke up and wanted to snuggle with my wife, I’ll not share the time, but it’s later than usual. My first official appointment is at 11:00, then I have a whole afternoon of meetings, catching up on some things and working on my little project.

I’m happy to say my project work is winding down; I should be able to relax by my birthday next Thursday; that is my goal; I think it is reasonable. What is your goal, and what are you working on that is consuming your time and energy? 

I slept like a king; my new 3o minute reading habit is paying dividends. I’m reading some silly story about an author now, but I have decided to venture back into the classics once I’m done with this; the book I’m reading is akin to candy, but I like to munch on fine steak. Soon I’ll be leaning into the classic works of our past, hoping to understand how the greats mastered their art. For now, I’ll read the silly stories.

I got a confession to make, I have a new way I write, and it’s not perfect, but it’s making my life easier. During the day, while working, I’ll jump on Twitter for a few moments and pick up the tweets or news items I find interesting. I then aggregate them for my users. As an example, “I caught a Twitter story about a mother dropping her autistic nonverbal kid over in Ohio on a dead-end road.” What the hell? Sans her mental issues, maybe we return to public hangings. So, the next parent that decides to drop their special needs kid off in the wilderness will think twice.

I worked from home yesterday; I had my board meeting in the morning. All seem to be doing well, we have a new member, she owns a company that makes handbags, she’s nice and fits our group dynamic. The lessons I can learn from her will be exciting, and what I might impart in my knowledge transfer.  The meeting ended. I took a 20-minute walk with my pup and returned for my next appointment.

I ran a call with a Colorado client, we did a review, I caught him up on the latest news, and I finished that call and got back to work. My wife got home about 5:00. We worked a little more, and then our friend Paul came over. We hung out and then went to Blue Beards for dinner; we had not been. It’s a James Beard award winner, my wife and I split the chopped salad and a small side of pasta.

We got home; Paul headed home, turned on the television, and watched a couple of hours of mind-bending naked robots before heading to bed. I checked my Oura ring; my body temperature has decreased back to normal; my resting heart rate is about 60; I slept 8 hours and 3 minutes and had an 82% sleep efficiency. At 52, I feel pretty good about my body, mind, and connection with something bigger than myself.

Here is some news, Pfizer got “emergency approval” for their vaccine for five to twelve-year-olds. Wait a minute, is this the same vaccine that “they” said would protect you, not allow you to contract the virus and make it impossible for you to spread it. That one? And they need to poke little kids who have not shown any significant issues when contracting COVID? Is anyone paying attention?

U.S. Soccer equalizes pay in the milestone with women and men. Ok, have you ever attended an NBA game? Have you ever participated in a WNBA game? When one team sells out the stadium, and the other sells 500 seats per game, you tell me that people, men, women, and transgender are entitled to the same pay? The want to equal the playing field has no ties to a capitalistic model. U.S. Soccer is now a socialist sport.

A weather update from our Western home, it’s mid-May, and we will be getting five to eight inches of snow.  It will be in the ’30s this weekend; thankfully, we will not return until June 1st; by that time, it will be in the 80s, but never underestimate the volatility of mountain top weather; it’s like a box of chocolates.  

We live in an unfair and unjust world. No one is born the same; we are all snowflakes with our designs, gifts, rifts, and flaws. Life is not fair, but life is; if you work hard, use your mind, and be kind to others, very little can stop you from achieving any level of success you choose. To those that try and limit your success based on your race, color, or creed, I say be dammed; this human has just as much right to succeed as you; making them anything less than you is an offense to them, me, you, and society. Quit using the victim card and let all people become their best humans being.
