Dirty Filthy Entrepreneurs, It’s a BOY, Wedding Weekend, Full House30*
“Entrepreneurs don’t have weekends or birthdays or holidays. So every day is my weekend, my birthday, my holiday. OR, every day is my workday. Mostly it’s a choice.”

This morning’s word soup is brought to you by Liquid Death Water and Death Wish Coffee. I’ve got a couple of days to share, so pardon me for my lateness; we slept in, more about that later. I hope you are doing well; we are swell, we have a house full, it’s wedding weekend.
On Saturday, I had one job, get the doughnuts from our neighborhood doughnut shop .25 miles from our home to the wedding venue, approximately .75miles from our house. So Cousin and I picked them up and delivered them at noon. We then watched the Michigan Ohio State game and took both PVHT and the GSP for a walk.
We got suited up; Cousin wore my tie, Skeeter joined us, we drove separately if someone wanted to come home early. We arrived at 4:20, we call that Denver time, and let me tell you, my wife was stunning. Both mothers were gorgeous; as Quincy said, “Dad, this is a pretty people wedding!”
Nick and Carly got hitched, we expanded our family ten-fold, we added some great folks; one, in particular, was a grandpa named Dave. An intelligent sort of fellow, I gave him a copy of my book on Friday; by the wedding, he had read 246 pages and had a thought or two about my writings.
He said, “you shared that one day you decided to become you, grow your hair, wear different clothes, be the person you wanted to be. I respect that, and then you talked about how you were upset about removing the confederate statues. Is it possible that the country is deciding to move on from its past and be who it wants to be?” I was shaken, how insightful, we exchanged cell phone numbers, I added Dave to my 8%.
I got to see my family; everyone made it sans my son and his wife; she is pregnant and concerned about large crowds. However, I met many young folks happy about the wedding and made it to the send-off. Young Nate was the officiant and did a fantastic job; his mate Sarah showed up and was a great addition to our event.
We got home about 1:00 a.m.; I stayed up until 3:00 a.m. thus, no soup yesterday, we had coffee and hung out at the kitchen bar before heading to the Dugout to watch the Colts. Nate stayed Saturday night, Sarah showed up, and we all headed to get some lunch and drinks. I placed a $20.00 bet that the Colts won, Taylor and Hilton scored, for a $170.00 windfall. Taylor scored, as did Hilton, but the Colts came up short. A great game; Tom Brady is the GOAT.
I think I had 5 Corona Premiums; it’s like drinking water, 4% booze; we came home and had some wine before heading to bed, we had an early night, but I slept like a rock. Skeeter is here, as is Cousin, and Nate a Sarah, we have a full house; it’s Monday morning, and the home is full; young Nate just brought me coffee, patted my shoulder, and said, “that was a great weekend.” It was indeed.
I’ve got an open morning; I think I’ll love my wife, then I’ve got some meetings this afternoon. It looks like an average week of work; I will be recruiting for our company, my new role. I’ve never prospected people, but my plan is to have a deep bench of folks who want to join our unique culture. I’m looking forward to building out our team.
We had a gender reveal at the wedding; I may or may not have shared that our married kid jumped the gun and is having a baby. But we didn’t know the gender. It is a bit weird to gender a baby; I think we should wait until they’re 18 and let them decide. But they went old school and are calling this baby a, wait for it, a boy.
Our son-in-law wanted a boy but convinced himself he was having a girl, so when the blue confetti came out, he was overwhelmed with joy. His brother, who got married two weeks ago, is also expecting a boy; they live about 5 miles from each other; the world should be on notice, the two Schnell boys will be athletic forces.
It’s nice working from home; everyone is still here, Nate and Sarah are working in the kitchen, my wife is working from our bedroom, Skeeter and I are in the living room, and cousin is calling plays from his bedroom. It’s like an office, but it’s called home.
I have realized that I love entrepreneurs; you and I should be friends if you are an entrepreneur. Anyone with the gumption to start or buy a business and develop it has my admiration. Young Sarah did this; she worked a regular job in New York, returned home to Zionsville, and planned weddings for free for a year. She created her internship, and after a year, began charging for her services; she is now recognized as one of the best wedding planners in Indiana. If you need a wedding planner, check her out:
Well, there you go, some post-wedding news, thoughts, and ideas. No agitation, just a good old review of the past couple of days. Happy times here. I trust you are well and you too had a good weekend. I am going to get on the health train, move more, eat less, sip less booze; I will get back to my desired weight of 165, I’m 12 pounds heavy, time to get to work. Weight it like life; it ebbs and flows. It’s time to subside a little; cheers!
