“If you want to write, if you want to create, you must be the most sublime fool that God ever turned out and sent rambling. You must write every single day of your life. You must read dreadful dumb books and glorious books, and let them wrestle in beautiful fights inside your head, vulgar one moment, brilliant the next. You must lurk in libraries and climb the stacks like ladders to sniff books like perfumes and wear books like hats upon your crazy heads. I wish you a wrestling match with your Creative Muse that will last a lifetime. I wish craziness and foolishness and madness upon you. May you live with hysteria, and out of it make fine stories — science fiction or otherwise. Which finally means, may you be in love every day for the next 20,000 days. And out of that love, remake a world.”
— Ray Bradbury

Greetings from our downtown condo in Colorado; I’m here with my wife, Bay, and PVHT.  We got home from our friend’s Dave and Anna’s wedding about 6:00; it was a beautiful wedding in a beautiful location; the thing that struck me was they played the national anthem before the ceremony.  Dave is a veteran; there were many other veterans there; I thought a great touch to a beautiful union of two fantastic people.

The reception was at her friend Holly’s home, a gorgeous estate with white tents, great music, and a bar.  I drank Arnold Palmers while the ladies enjoyed some bubbly.  My friend Dave was sad. Before his nuptials, I started my sober journey; I reminded him that there is never a good time to quit drinking. There are always events that must be factored in.

We got back to the condo, took PVHT to the dog park, made some friends; we came home and watched some football before turning on our Midnight Mass show on Netflix.  We watched a couple of episodes before going to bed.  I woke up at 4:30 P.T. and took PVHT for a walk; downtown Denver early morning is where you must be hyper-aware.

No significant issues, we took a quick walk, we got our business done, I jumped back in bed with my wife and slumbered later than usual.  I was dreaming the last hour in bed; I must have needed the extra rest.  We will hang out in Denver today and visit my friend Knight and Ambers’ home to toast them and their nuptials that occurred at our home last night.  We would have loved to have been there, but how often do two of your good friends get married on the same day?

I suspect a walk with our dog may be down to REI mother ship; she will get in the water, it will be a good day.  I must share I’m in a house without a coffee maker.  I did not know this was a thing; Bay’s home only has a press pot, no old school pot, nor Keriug, and all coffee is flavored.  I texted my mother and asked to be put on the prayer chain.

It sounds like they are frustrated in our nation’s capital.  Well, folks, join the masses; you want to add five million dollars to our debt, create unimaginable entitlement programs and saddle our future generations with a conundrum that is sure to lose our standing as the world’s greatest nation. Still, you progressives try and push through your radical agenda while the moderates and conservatives will have their input.

We have a busy week; I have three days of work, a retreat with my men’s group, then Dave Matthews with some family from Indiana.  Then, we pack the car and begin our trek back east to spend the winter with our Midwest friends.  A couple of new updates from my friends at NPR.  The dramatic rise in homicides has no direct link to the mass underfunding of the police.  Do they even listen to their news reports?  You remove the police, crime goes up in most major cities, but there is no correlation.

It’s a beautiful day here, blue skies, a slight chill in the air; I now have my press pot coffee; it’s delicious.  My wife is trying to find a dress she saw at the wedding yesterday; thank God for online shopping.  Along with no booze, I try and limit my purchase of hard goods, no clothes, just food and drink; I try and reset all my habits.

I need to take our dog for another walk, my wife and I will explore our old stomping grounds; it’s different now after the pandemic, the stores that are open vs. closed, the number of homeless, it’s a little shall I say blighted. But, I’m happy with our move west; our area seems to have avoided the impact of the virus, most things remain open, we live with freedom and openness.

Enjoy this day, something bigger than ourselves has made.  Get outside and so something fun, I hope the weather is nice where you are, and if not, get out a board game and call a friend or grab your kids.  Not everything is best lived online; there is something about talking and enjoying the company of those around you. So we will break in our hot tub tonight, the first time, sitting under the stars, watching the lights and the city of Denver.  Be good, be kind, and live as if this is the last day of your life.
