Climate Change, Masks for the Vaccinated, Racism is Everywhere

Good morning world, how are you? I am fine, thank you for asking; my wife is asleep, my pup has been fed and is outside, and the sunrise was a ten. One of my favorite things about our new kitchen is our industrial ice machine.  I can get up, scoop up a large cup of ice and then fill it with mountain water.  I remember this was a Tim Ferris hack; a nice cold glass of water is a great way to start your day.

A busy day of meetings and teaching, we will work in a hike, and we have company coming over tonight.  We’re making skirt steak, pineapple fajitas, and some rice and beans. In addition, our friend is interested in our collection of wood below our house; it might be excellent from a mitigation standpoint to get it cleaned up. So red Rocks tomorrow and Friday, we live a busy life.

I was listening to NPR yesterday, my middle-of-the-road friends ask, why bother, but I like to see the distortion of the truth.  It’s like a conspiracy theory hour by hour.  So yesterday, there was the new climate change push; if you listen, you will hear what I mean; climate change is our biggest threat; if we don’t do something now, babies will die!  Then we got an update on why we vaccinated people have to wear masks again.  And then the story was how black neighborhoods’ home values are lower, and it’s the fault of the white appraisers.

NPR and other media are focused on three main things today, Climate Change is the biggest threat besides Republicans to the republic, COVID will kill you, and black and brown people are being suppressed. We have to change our society to accommodate their needs better.

Let me take this one by one; climate change is real; it’s a thing, but we had a dust bowl in the ’30s, and things came back around.  I think Mother Earth is far more intelligent than us; she will figure it out, recycle, do your part, but stop with the green new deal; let’s kill the economy talk.

Masks, this is almost a joke at this point. First, if we get a vaccination, we can remove the mask, but now you say the Delta Variant will kill us all.   Hey folks, the seven-day running average of deaths is about 278; more people die of Alzheimer’s than COVID; what the hell are we doing?  Remember, 1800 people, die a day from heart disease, is it time to shut down all gluttonous food offerings.  This situation is not a health crisis; this is a government seizure of our fundamental rights.

As a white guy, I’m a little offended when “my people” are attacked and accused of racism. However, if you listen to NPR and replace the words black and brown with white, you would be appalled.  It’s racist propaganda, and guess who’s paying for this trash? I am, you are, and why am I paying for something that is bullshit.  Well, I think it is entertainment, but it could be entrainment. It attempts to change our frequency to believe in facts that are not facts but an ideological narrative of equity.

Another story on the glorious network of NPR was a story about a black-only town in CO that thrived in the ’30s and ’40s.  I thought black only; no whites lived there, that sounds like segregation, and I thought we wanted a world of multiculturalism, a celebration of a mixture of who we are and our unique cultural differences. Instead, it seems a segment of our population wants to return to a time when we intentionally separate people, not on their character but the amount of melanin in their skin.

I’m free-flowing; I do this sometimes, just type, don’t correct, and Grammarly tells me I have 42 issues; I’ll fix those later, but since I’m on a self-perceived roll, let me continue.  My wife made maybe the most fabulous buffalo pepper tacos last night.  We got to our beans about 7:00, watched a movie, and got to bed before 9:00.  I woke at 5:30 and enjoyed some wife time before getting up and doing my morning chores.

I’ve got my first appointment at 7:30 a.m., a review with a long-time client and friend.  My dog has decided her time with me is over; she’s heading back up to do a trust fall into my wife. So they will get up soon, the house will be a bustle of activity, and we will start another glorious day.  I hope you have a great day; I got a note from a friend dealing with cancer.  He’s a great man with a great family; if you pray, please keep Reece in your daily requests to something bigger than yourself.

My positive intelligence training has been opening my mind.  I now take time in the morning to walk down our mountainside and pick wildflowers that I place in a small cup and sit by my chair on our deck.  When I meditate, I do visual reps taking time to look at the flowers, viewing the texture and vibrant colors.  My sage brain has been activated.

That’s all I have in my middle-aged white guy brain; maybe you agree, perhaps you find flaws in my logic, and if you do, I’m open to reeducation.  I believe a man is a man a woman is a woman.  I think quitters should not be praised but called out for their selfish acts; I prize mental toughness and sticktoitiveness. If you get a little triggered, remember, it’s just my opinion, man.  We’re all entitled to say what we think, feel, and believe.  It’s how change begins to happen.
