Christmas Gift Recommendations, Energy, Loyalty, Experience, and Kindness, Leadership, Courage, and Common Sense, Let’s Go, Jesus

Good morning, good afternoon, good evening, or whenever you find this collection of words. Saturday morning, 6:18 a.m., I woke up at 5:30 and snuggled with my wife, rubbed my pup’s belly before getting up and making some Liquid Death/Death Dish Coffee. It’s now my time to pen some thoughts and ideas and share my understanding of recent events.
We have bought some new stuff. Lately, our countertop ice machine makes fresh ice every 6 minutes; it’s a must-have. We use Liquid Death Mountain Water to make our cubes; check it out here:

I now have a digital clock blasting on my wall. My friends Josh and Paula turned me onto the phone charging projection clock. So instead of looking at a watch, I look up at my ceiling, and the time is glowing above—an excellent idea for a Christmas gift. Here is a link to the item:

Ok, enough with the pimping of merch, let’s get this soup started! I got up yesterday, worked for a couple of hours, took a shower, and then ran my first call. It’s my favorite call of the week; it’s an hour and fifteen-minute call with thought leaders from around the country chatting about various topics. For example, yesterday, we focused on the idea of balance and how some of us have achieved balance while others find it elusive. Next week we will explore the concept of play, what it means, and how we can work it into our daily lives. My friend Matt will lead that discussion.
I finished that call and had another interview with a candidate, not a good fit for our firm. The young man had low energy, had little direction, did not light me up, so I shared I wished him well but keep looking. When building a team, the first thing I look for is positive energy, then loyalty, then experience, and kindness.
I skipped lunch, did an all-day fast, I do this occasionally, my doc said I had gained two pounds since last year, I’m still in my zone, but I feel it coming on, so I’m taking action. I’ll intermediate fast for a few days, remove the excess and then get back to my movement routine and tiny meals.
We had a 1:30 with a new client; we ran that call, and then I plugged away at emptying my inbox; I got it down to five; I like a clean inbox. About 4:00, we had a drink, and then our kids came over. We all headed to the Dugout for supper, got home by 6:00, watched some comedy on the telly before heading to bed at 9:00. Again, I slept great, another fantastic start to another magical day.
As I was having dinner, a local channel shared our government is considering legal weed. I have a unique perspective on this topic since I live both here and in a state where marijuana has been legal for many years. Although at this point, many of my friends that partake are heading to Michigan regularly to procure their products, we are losing out on a large tax base. In addition, one of my friends is now a very high-ranking member of congress. I asked if he was open to chatting about my experience; he said, “let’s chat,” so I’ll encourage our government to get with the times and get the people nonpharma, aka natural meds.
A leisurely morning today, my wife and I have a little work to do. First, we will take our pup for a walk, go to our local bread store Amelia’s. Then, buy some things to take to my mother-in-law tonight; it’s my wife’s side’s Christmas. After that, we will stay the night; cousin will stay back and hang with Parker Van Halen, we will reconnect tomorrow. Finally, we’re going to shoot some guys and exercise our second amendment right.
I saw this and thought it made sense. “The real shortage we have in this country is not wood, chicken, or gasoline. It’s leadership, courage, and common sense.” Where are our leaders? Where are the courage and common sense? Like many workers, did these three things decide to join the great resignation? We need to find these things again; maybe a leadership change would help. The current administration seems to have one answer for our problems, “we’re in a pandemic!” I like that feller down in Florida. He seems sensible and has provided excellent leadership this past two years. Maybe he can be our uniter?
You know who might want to make a return. Of course, that sand-colored hippy! We could welcome him showing up and providing some leadership. I don’t know that his teachings of tolerance and love of all would be accepted by most, but Let’s Go, Jesus, it’s time you get your ass back here and help get us aligned. But then again, I think the good book has some ominous warnings for his return; maybe instead of Armageddon, we can just sit at a table and work out our differences.
As an indication of our times, here is an actual news item. “Young liberals are skeptical of the GOP, a new Generation Lab/Axios poll has found: 37 percent of Democratic college students said they wouldn’t befriend a Republican; only 5 percent of Republicans said the same about a Democrat. Introduce romance, and the numbers are even more skewed: “71 percent of Democrats wouldn’t go on a date with someone with opposing views, versus 31 percent of Republicans,” Axios reported.” Is it possible that one group is more tolerant than another?
Most view the country in halves, but I think we are more than 90% connected, and there is a fringe of 5% on both sides. But that’s not news; no one likes to think we are really on the same page. So to get you to click on that link or article, you must play to a base. No one is writing to the 90%, most play to the fringe. I’m the 90% guy. Above I share my liberal view on marijuana and my love for the second amendment. I was recently labeled a liberal-conservative. If you take some time and parse through my last ten years of writing, I don’t think any label would fit; I’m a unicorn.
So today, I think I will identify as a colored unicorn, my color is olive, and my pronouns are horn and E. we live in a society where some think it ok to be anyone you want. If you were born a man and said, “I’m now a woman, you can break every woman’s swim record, and the NCAA turns a blind eye. We live in some strange times, again Let’s Go, Jesus!
