"It is a capital mistake to theorize before one has data. Insensibly one begins to twist facts to suit theories, instead of theories to suit facts."
— Arthur Conan Doyle

Good morning Sunday of a holiday weekend, you smell and taste like Saturday?  We had a good day yesterday; we got up and cleaned up the house; Bay and I played Gin for a couple of hours while watching the Michigan Football game.  They were playing her alma mater; the Alma got smattered.  It was refreshing to see 110,000 humans in the same place simultaneously spitting, laughing, drinking, and cheering.  I think we are moving back towards a level of normalcy.

Our friend Scott brought his crew out to plan the removal of our deck and rebuild it to suit our new hot tub.  They worked about an hour, and when done, we had made them breakfast.  Egg bites, bacon, and parm bagels were on the menu.  They were thankful; it was nice to break bread with some new people.

I found a chart online that I thought was interesting; I shared the said chart on social media and said, this is interesting.  I didn’t comment that it was good or bad, just interesting. But, as with most data sets, it got some people triggered.  Here’s the chart:

So you have a better chance of dying from a dog attack than dying from COVID-19 if you are fully vaccinated. So I’m not saying COVID-19 is not accurate; it’s a thing, you can get it, but it seems if you are vaccinated, you should worry about other things. One young man shared the data didn’t matter if you are dead.  I would tend to agree with that comment; I think the chart points out that a lot of the drastic actions are a little bit of political theater.

When we first moved to Colorado, we thought we wanted to live in Boulder.  But as time passed, we realized the community was not aligned with our values.  For example, Boulder County just announced an inside-outside mask mandate; even if you are vaccinated, you must wear a mask.  How can that square with the thousands of people that are watching college football without a mask?  I don’t mind if you wear a mask, I’ve seen some very cool face coverings lately, but for me, I’m willing to take my vaccinated chances roaming the earth free of cloth, paper, or plastic.

Yesterday afternoon we went to one of our spots, we watched a great band play some great music.  They had a five-piece band; they played Brown Eyed Girl, many Beatles, and some Stones songs.  It was great to sit outside with about 100 of our friends, sipping a drink and watching humanity move and groove.  Our friends Kris and Marzy are dancing machines; I sat by and watched as they ripped up the wood-chipped covered dance floor.   We hung out for a couple of hours before heading to get some groceries, then headed home to cook.

I had bought a tri-tip cut of meat and had murdered it in the instant-pot. So we made steak enchiladas with a white sauce, it was delicious.  Our friend Allie and Bay came over for a bit, Allie went home, Bay went to watch the dogs of our friends Keith and Kathy. I think Keith and Kathy are hunting giraffes.

Tomorrow we have a full day planned of hiking with K and K and letting our dogs swim in one of the local parks.

I think today is a lazy day; my wife is still in bed; I’m thinking we will do brunch with some friends before heading back and taking our pup for a walk around the hood.  We have ribs we will slow cook, and I think we will have panko-crusted mac and cheese; we will eat better this week, but today is a little carby-holiday-weekend flare.

So now that we are moving back to a sense of normalcy, how will you modify your life?  I can share I will be doing about 80% of my work virtual and 20% in person.  No longer will I drive to see vendors, the majority of my appointments will be done via Zoom.  I have about 20% of my clients that want to see me, and I will make sure that the nonvirtual loving clients see my face, but I’ll never go back to the flying once a week and driving 30 hours, I’ve reclaimed my life, my time, and can now use that travel time to work on our company.

Our new life has us running most if not all our appointments together; it’s rare that my wife and I are apart, and we plan our days to maximize our time together.  It’s fun to do life with someone you love and cherish. I know some folks that are in a miserable situation. I can’t imagine staying in a relationship that has become a “relatiosnshit.” If you are not happy, it’s on you to fix your life.

I think that will do a little social commentary, a minor update on our unique lifestyle.  I hope these words find you in a fantastical place of wonder and curiosity.  The world is fascinating; you can find a gift and opportunity in every event, sometimes it’s easier than others, but trust me, every moment, good or perceived bad, has a positive impact on your life.  If you live with a grateful heart and giving mindset, you can’t help but be happy.

Well, my wife just got up; I better get up and tend to my chores.  I’ve got a couple of things to do; I’m sure you do as well, so let’s dispense with me writing and you reading and go out and be productive in the most fantastic time in human history. So, cheers, I’ll see you tomorrow and can’t wait to experience this day created by something bigger than ourselves.
