726 Elevation, Beating Women, Nick Heads Home, English Ivy, The Sad State of the Union
"A society that puts equality before freedom will get neither. A society that puts freedom before equality will get a high degree of both."

Good morning from 726 feet elevation. Our other home is 8232 feet, so I wondered where we sat, and according to the “Goog,” it’s 726, so there is that. It’s Sunday morning; the coffee is made, Cousin is here, as are Deb and Jerry. They arrived yesterday afternoon; we had dinner and then returned to play Euchre; the men may or may not have beat the women.
In many cultures, it is bad form to beat the women, but in our Euchre matches, it seems perfectly fine. We had a great time, and I suspect all to be getting up soon; we will have coffee and then go our separate ways. Well, cousin will stay; he is here meeting his namesake; we will head over to Carly and Nick’s to see Bo Michael.
Nick must return to Florida today; the kid got three days with his new son before he must return to work. We gave our daughter six weeks off to enjoy the kid; something seems amiss. But that’s life; you don’t’ bitch and moan; you lean in and take the cards dealt. We will be here for the next 30 days to help the new mother enjoy the new being. Have I told you how damn handsome the kids are?
It’s May 1st; the year is a third over; how are you fairing? We have had a good year; we have put some cash in our bank account, welcomed two grandbabies, made new friends, and have had some pretty big opportunities. Deb and Jerry are in the house; we have coffee and water and talk about our Euchre match. It seems we ended one to one; we can’t claim victory!
We will leave here and go to English Ivy and have brunch; it’s an LGBTQUILMNOP+ bar that makes excellent mimosas and great biscuits and gravy. Joleen is talking up a storm, PVHT just let herself in, and Jenny Jo is now up after making the bed. I suspect we will do brunch, head to see Baby Bo, finish our day with some dinner drinks and get ready for the week.
Cousin is now up; the gang is back together. PVHT and Joleen are talking, and it’s Monday. I didn’t finish the soup yesterday; Deb and Jerry were having coffee, and I didn’t have the stones to finish my work. I can share we did go to English Ivy and had brunch. They had a buffet with biscuits and gravy, bacon, etc. It was delicious. Bailey met us, and then we headed to see Baby Bo.
We returned to our home and met Saundra and Bill for his birthday. Cousin and Bay stayed with us, Joleen talked, PVHT was in bed with my wife, and I’m just sharing words as they pop into my mind. The fireplace is kicking out some excellent heat, the coffee is strong, and I have a busy day planned!
I looked at the news, and one thing caught my eye, it was a video of Philadelphia, and the caption, we just sent 33 billion to Ukraine, and this is our country. It’s not good, folks; it looks like a third-world country; maybe we should keep our treasure and focus on our people instead of funding a war on the other side? Just my two “senses.”
My wife is making breakfast for our pup, kibble, and chicken, and tonight, she will eat green beans for supper. I just read where Dr. Brix said we would have a summer of COVID; strange; it seems the virus has been pushed down the list of things we need to focus on? The new virus is misinformation and disinformation.
We are living in exciting times, times that show ideas should be oppressed. Freedom of speech is suppressed, and our nation’s fundamental rights are under the microscope. We have a bill of rights, but that bill is coming due. The next few months will be a forerunner of what is to come.
